Flu Shots

As we head into the colder months, we know there are many questions about vaccine availability. Please see below for more information.

FLU VACCINES

Our office's supply of both the regular flu shot and the high-dose flu shot are based on Public Health allotment. Unfortunately, Public Health has advised they are out of high dose flu vaccines for the remainder of this year. Flu shots are administered based on availability therefore we may be unable to accommodate or guarantee receiving the high-dose flu shot regardless of eligibility for this reason.

At this time, you can call to book a flu shot in our clinic.

- High-dose vaccine: you must be age 65 or older to receive a high dose vaccine with a co-morbidity.

- Regular dose: age 6 months and older. Infants/children under the age of 9 receiving their first flu shot require two doses 30 days apart.

The flu shot also lowers your risk from serious complications, such as pneumonia and is the best defence to protect yourself, your family and those you care for. The flu shot has been shown to reduce the number of doctor visits, hospitalizations and deaths related to influenza.

As your family physician, I highly recommend that you receive your flu shot to protect yourself and those around you. Please contact your doctor’s office to schedule an appointment for your flu shot.

COVID VACCINES

Please note, at this time our office is not providing the COVID vaccine. Scenic Pharmacy (located in our building) will be offering the COVID vaccines and flu vaccines for those aged 12 and up this flu season. You can call them to schedule an appointment at 365-227-0083.
